Semiconductor Machinery Price in the United States (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average semiconductor machinery export price amounted to $286 per unit, growing by 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a significant decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 85% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $323,546 per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($2,593 per unit), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($1.2 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (-43.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Semiconductor Machinery Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average semiconductor machinery import price amounted to $79.0 per unit, jumping by 40% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a perceptible increase from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, semiconductor machinery import price decreased by -31.2% against April 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2022 an increase of 67% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $115 per unit in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($116 per unit), while the price for China ($31.7 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+8.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Semiconductor Machinery Exports in the United States
In 2022, shipments abroad of semiconductor machinery decreased by -19.9% to 96M units, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, exports, however, recorded significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 130,127%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 129M units. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, semiconductor machinery exports amounted to $27.3B in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +19.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +70.4% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
