Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a pronounced decline. The global exports peaked at 46M square meters in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, sheep leather exports totaled $283M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the global exports attained the maximum at $486M in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, Spain ($80M), China ($53M) and Saudi Arabia ($29M) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 57% share of global exports.
China, with a CAGR of +50.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices By Country
The average sheep leather export price stood at $8.7 per square meter in 2022, shrinking by -2.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a pronounced decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 3.9% against the previous year.
