Soya Bean Price in Peru (CIF) - 2021
In April 2020, the average soya bean import price amounted to $378 per ton, growing by 1.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild decrease. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $390 per ton in January 2020; however, from February 2020 to April 2020, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In April 2020, the countries with the highest prices were Bolivia ($436 per ton) and Paraguay ($380 per ton), while the price for Argentina ($373 per ton) and the United States ($375 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2020 to April 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bolivia (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Soya Bean Price in Peru (FOB) - 2022
The average soya bean export price stood at $1,855 per ton in 2022, surging by 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a tangible increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 217% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $1,959 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($2,473 per ton), while the average price for exports to Chile ($224 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Soya Bean Imports in Peru
In 2022, overseas purchases of soya beans were finally on the rise to reach 292K tons after two years of decline. Overall, imports, however, showed a deep setback.
In value terms, soya bean imports surged to $185M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +52.7% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
