Spacecraft Price in China (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average spacecraft export price amounted to $9,722 per unit, picking up by 43% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed moderate growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the average export price increased by 1,418%. The export price peaked at $22,771 per unit in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($48,688 per unit), while the average price for exports to Switzerland ($3,182 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Philippines (+82.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Spacecraft Price in China (CIF) - 2022
The average spacecraft import price stood at $3,707 per unit in 2022, growing by 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by 78%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $16,809 per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($5,971 per unit), while the price for Sweden ($200 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+91.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Spacecraft Exports in China
In 2022, exports of civil spacecraft, satellites and launch vehicles from China reduced notably to 24K units, waning by -26.5% on 2021 figures. Overall, exports recorded a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 205%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 33K units, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, spacecraft exports expanded to $235M in 2022. In general, exports saw a perceptible downturn. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $258M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Spacecraft Imports in China
After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of civil spacecraft, satellites and launch vehicles decreased by -10.4% to 1.9K units in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a significant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +20.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +73.0% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 53%. Imports peaked at 2.1K units in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, spacecraft imports expanded markedly to $6.9M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a noticeable slump. Imports peaked at $8M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
