Toy Price in Malaysia (CIF) - 2021
The average toy import price stood at $7,827 per ton in December 2021, picking up by 22% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $8,746 per ton in December 2020; however, from January 2021 to December 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($14,892 per ton), while the price for China ($7,483 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hong Kong SAR (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Toy Price in Malaysia (FOB) - 2022
The average toy export price stood at $11,374 per ton in 2021, remaining stable against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.3%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $11,808 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($19,271 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($6,240 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+17.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Toy Imports in Malaysia
In 2022, imports of dolls and toys into Malaysia contracted to 18K tons, dropping by -5.4% on 2021. Overall, imports recorded a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 12%.
In value terms, toy imports contracted to $139M in 2022. In general, imports recorded a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 16%.

Toy exports from Malaysia contracted slightly to 17K tons in 2022, falling by -1.6% against the previous year. In general, exports saw a pronounced slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 3.3%.
In value terms, toy exports fell to $194M in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a perceptible descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 2.2%.
