In 2022, after two years of growth, there was decline in production of unsaturated monohydric alcohols, when its volume decreased by -0.8% to 541K tons. The total output volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the production volume increased by 25% against the previous year. Global production peaked at 688K tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, unsaturated monohydric alcohols production contracted slightly to $4.4B in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, production saw a pronounced descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the production volume increased by 14%. Global production peaked at $7.1B in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The country with the largest volume of unsaturated monohydric alcohols production was Singapore (255K tons), accounting for 47% of total volume. Moreover, unsaturated monohydric alcohols production in Singapore exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, the United States (73K tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Japan (56K tons), with a 10% share.

In 2022, Singapore (213K tons) represented the main exporter of unsaturated monohydric alcohols, making up 64% of total exports. Japan (42K tons) took a 12% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by China (6.3%). India (12K tons), the Netherlands (12K tons), Switzerland (8.6K tons) and the United States (8.3K tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Singapore was also the fastest-growing in terms of the unsaturated monohydric alcohols exports, with a CAGR of +66.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, the Netherlands (+12.4%), China (+11.3%), India (+9.2%), Switzerland (+4.1%), Japan (+3.7%) and the United States (+1.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Singapore increased by +62 percentage points.
In value terms, the largest unsaturated monohydric alcohols supplying countries worldwide were Singapore ($304M), China ($224M) and India ($141M), with a combined 57% share of global exports.

Export Prices By Country
In 2022, the average unsaturated monohydric alcohols export price amounted to $3,510 per ton, rising by 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a abrupt curtailment. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $6,219 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($11,486 per ton), while Singapore ($1,424 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
