In value terms, vegetable puree production stood at $234M in 2022 estimated in export price. The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 9.8% against the previous year. Global production peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

The countries with the highest volumes of production in 2022 were South Africa (22K tons), Italy (15K tons) and Spain (9.5K tons), together accounting for 45% of global production. France, Poland, Egypt, Bulgaria, India, Thailand, Lebanon, the United States, Hungary and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 40%.

Imports
World Imports of Vegetable Puree
In 2022, overseas purchases of vegetable puree decreased by -13.5% to 34K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 25%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 51K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of global imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, vegetable puree imports declined to $89M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global imports reached the peak figure at $107M in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, Belgium (6.5K tons), distantly followed by the UK (3.7K tons), Germany (2.4K tons), Italy (1.6K tons) and France (1.6K tons) were the major importers of vegetable puree, together creating 46% of total imports. Import Prices By Country
In 2022, the average vegetable puree import price amounted to $2,609 per ton, growing by 4.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 19%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $2,713 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Italy experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of vegetable puree. At the same time, the Netherlands (+10.9%), Belgium (+9.7%), Jamaica (+8.6%), the United States (+6.6%), France (+4.6%), Egypt (+3.2%) and Hungary (+1.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Netherlands emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +10.9% from 2012-2022. Bulgaria and Spain experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. In value terms, Italy ($23M) remains the largest vegetable puree supplier worldwide, comprising 22% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by France ($10M), with a 10% share of global exports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 6.5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Italy amounted to +4.3%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (+7.6% per year) and the Netherlands (+11.3% per year).
Export Prices By Country
In 2022, the average vegetable puree export price amounted to $2,366 per ton, shrinking by -10.1% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,632 per ton in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.
