Wheat Bran Price in Latvia (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average wheat bran export price amounted to $182 per ton, surging by 25% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a noticeable descent. The export price peaked at $273 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to September 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Norway ($1,513 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ireland ($153 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Norway (+21.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Wheat Bran Price in Latvia (CIF) - 2023
The average wheat bran import price stood at $159 per ton in September 2023, falling by -1.7% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a noticeable setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 an increase of 2.7% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $242 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($190 per ton), while the price for Lithuania ($119 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ukraine (-1.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Wheat Bran Exports in Latvia
In 2022, overseas shipments of wheat bran decreased by -16.7% to 64K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 38% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 90K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, wheat bran exports shrank slightly to $13M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +12.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 37% against the previous year.
