Wire and Cable Price in Greece (FOB) - 2023
The average wire and cable export price stood at $7,390 per ton in June 2023, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 10% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in June 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Austria ($8,866 per ton), while the average price for exports to Sweden ($5,436 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Wire and Cable Price in Greece (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average wire and cable import price amounted to $7,873 per ton, declining by -2.2% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.4%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average import price increased by 24% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $8,047 per ton in 2021, and then fell modestly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($14,417 per ton), while the price for Cyprus ($3,424 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+5.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Wire and Cable Exports in Greece
Wire and cable exports from Greece shrank slightly to 82K tons in 2022, reducing by -4.1% compared with 2021. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 27%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 85K tons, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, wire and cable exports amounted to $555M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +15.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +69.3% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 62% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 41%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $306M, and then dropped in the following year.
