Over the period under review, the suitcase imports attained its maximum volume of X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2017, it failed to regain its momentum.

In value terms, suitcase imports stood at $X in 2017. The total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2007 to 2017: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last decade. South Africa, Sudan, Togo, Benin, Libya, Morocco, Mozambique, Ethiopia and Namibia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.

Among the main importing countries , Togo (+X% per year) experienced the highest rates of growth with regard to imports, over the last decade, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Suitcase Import Prices by Country in Africa

The suitcase import price in Africa stood at $X per thousand units in 2017, going down by -X% against the previous year. The import price indicated a perceptible increase from 2007 to 2017: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014, when the import prices increased by X% year-to-year. The level of import price peaked of $X per thousand units in 2016, and then declined slightly in the following year.
