The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 23%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, quilted textile products imports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 15%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

The following importers - Thailand (X tons), Singapore (X tons), Indonesia (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) - together made up 18% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Bangladesh (with a CAGR of +28.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest quilted textile products importing markets in Asia were China ($X), Vietnam ($X) and Japan ($X), together accounting for 39% of total imports. These countries were followed by Bangladesh, Thailand, Turkey, Singapore, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Pakistan, South Korea and Malaysia, which together accounted for a further 40%.

Among the main importing countries, Bangladesh, with a CAGR of +19.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by 14%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while Pakistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
