Crane Market Size in CIS

The CIS crane market surged to $X in 2023, jumping by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a mild decline. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Crane Production in CIS

In value terms, crane production expanded modestly to $X in 2023 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production recorded a slight curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the production volume increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X. From 2014 to 2023, production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Crane Exports

Exports in CIS

In 2023, overseas shipments of derricks, cranes, mobile lifting frames, straddle carriers and work trucks fitted with a crane increased by X% to X units for the first time since 2020, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2023, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, crane exports amounted to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Russia was the key exporter of derricks, cranes, mobile lifting frames, straddle carriers and work trucks fitted with a crane in the CIS, with the volume of exports finishing at X units, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2023. Kazakhstan (X units) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Belarus (X units) and Kyrgyzstan (X units). All these countries together held near X% share of total exports. The following exporters - Armenia (X units) and Uzbekistan (X units) - each reached a X% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to crane exports from Russia stood at X%. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (X%), Armenia (X%) and Uzbekistan (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kyrgyzstan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Kazakhstan (X%) and Belarus (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Russia (X p.p.), Kyrgyzstan (X p.p.), Uzbekistan (X p.p.) and Armenia (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Kazakhstan and Belarus saw its share reduced by X% and X% from 2012 to 2023, respectively.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest crane supplier in the CIS, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with an X% share of total exports. It was followed by Belarus, with a X% share.

In Russia, crane exports decreased by an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012-2023. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kazakhstan (X% per year) and Belarus (X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2023, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, waning by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a noticeable decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the export price increased by X%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per unit), while Armenia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (X%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in CIS

Crane imports soared to X units in 2023, jumping by X% on 2022. In general, imports recorded a notable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of X%. The volume of import peaked in 2023 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, crane imports skyrocketed to $X in 2023. Overall, imports, however, saw a pronounced reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by X%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Russia was the main importer of derricks, cranes, mobile lifting frames, straddle carriers and work trucks fitted with a crane in the CIS, with the volume of imports reaching X units, which was near X% of total imports in 2023. Kazakhstan (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a X% share, followed by Uzbekistan (X%). Armenia (X units), Belarus (X units) and Azerbaijan (X units) took a relatively small share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to crane imports into Russia stood at X%. At the same time, Armenia (X%), Uzbekistan (X%) and Kazakhstan (X%) displayed positive paces of growth.
