Exports by Country

In 2023, Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) represented the key exporter of cosmetics, generating X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Togo (X tons) and Senegal (X tons), together achieving a X% share of total exports. Ghana (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Cote d'Ivoire increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Togo (X%) and Senegal (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Total imports indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2023: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, imports decreased by X% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2021 to 2023, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2023, Nigeria (X tons) represented the largest importer of cosmetics, achieving X% of total imports. Mali (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a X% share, followed by Guinea (X%), Senegal (X%), Burkina Faso (X%), Benin (X%), Ghana (X%) and Cote d'Ivoire (X%).

Nigeria experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of cosmetics. At the same time, Mali (X%), Cote d'Ivoire (X%), Senegal (X%), Guinea (X%) and Burkina Faso (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Mali emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in ECOWAS, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Benin (X%) and Ghana (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Mali (X p.p.), Senegal (X p.p.), Cote d'Ivoire (X p.p.) and Guinea (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Benin, Nigeria and Ghana saw its share reduced by X%, X% and X% from 2012 to 2023, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
