Exports in ECOWAS

In 2022, curtains exports in ECOWAS skyrocketed to X square meters, rising by X% on 2021 figures. Overall, exports, however, showed a perceptible slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X square meters in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, curtains exports soared to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a deep reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

In 2022, Togo (X square meters) represented the major exporter of curtains and interior blinds, committing X% of total exports. Ghana (X square meters) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Cote d'Ivoire (X%). Gambia (X square meters), Mali (X square meters) and Senegal (X square meters) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Togo was also the fastest-growing in terms of the curtains and interior blinds exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. Among the main exporting countries, Ghana, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in ECOWAS stood at $X per square meter in 2022, waning by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a deep setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the export price increased by X%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per square meter in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ghana ($X per square meter), while Togo ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of curtains and interior blinds, when their volume decreased by X% to X square meters. Total imports indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by X%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X square meters. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
