As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.

Guinea represented the largest exporter of table linen of cotton in ECOWAS, with the volume of exports resulting at X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Togo (X tons), making up a X% share of total exports. Benin (X kg) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Guinea increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Benin (X%) and Togo (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Benin emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in ECOWAS, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. While the share of Guinea (X p.p.), Togo (X p.p.) and Benin (X p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Guinea totaled X%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Benin (X% per year) and Togo (X% per year).

Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then shrank sharply in the following year.

In value terms, cotton table linen imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Senegal dominates imports structure, finishing at X tons, which was near X% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Cabo Verde (X tons), constituting a X% share of total imports. The following importers - Niger (X tons) and Ghana (X tons) - each reached a X% share of total imports.

Senegal was also the fastest-growing in terms of the table linen of cotton imports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Niger (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Cabo Verde experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Ghana (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Senegal (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Ghana (X p.p.) and Cabo Verde (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Cabo Verde ($X per ton), while Niger ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
