Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 53%. The exports peaked at X square meters in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, tufted carpet exports declined modestly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 134% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Germany (X square meters), Romania (X square meters) and Slovakia (X square meters) were the main destinations of tufted carpet exports from Hungary, together accounting for 76% of total exports. The Netherlands, France, Finland, Croatia and Ukraine lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 17%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by France (with a CAGR of +340.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The second position in the ranking was held by Romania ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by France, with an 8.1% share.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Finland ($X per square meter), while the average price for exports to Croatia ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +19.7% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 26%. Imports peaked at X square meters in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per square meter. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per square meter), while the price for Serbia ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
