Overall, exports, however, saw pronounced growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2023, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, alkali and rare earth metals exports declined to $X in 2023. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by X%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2022, and then contracted in the following year.

Exports by Country

Vietnam represented the main exporter of alkali or alkaline-earth metals, rare-earth metals, scandium and yttrium, mercury in South-Eastern Asia, with the volume of exports reaching X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2023. It was distantly followed by Thailand (X tons), comprising a X% share of total exports. Singapore (X tons), Indonesia (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Malaysia was the major importing country with an import of about X tons, which amounted to X% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Vietnam (X tons), generating a X% share of total imports. The following importers - Lao People's Democratic Republic (X tons) and Myanmar (X tons) - each recorded a X% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to alkali and rare earth metals imports into Malaysia stood at X%. At the same time, Lao People's Democratic Republic (X%), Myanmar (X%) and Vietnam (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Lao People's Democratic Republic emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in South-Eastern Asia, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023.
