Chicken Meat Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2023
The average chicken meat export price stood at $1,652 per ton in July 2023, reducing by -1.9% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 8.6% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,728 per ton in July 2022; afterwards, it flattened through to July 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Iran ($2,232 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkmenistan ($417 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iran (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Chicken Meat Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average chicken meat import price amounted to $1,832 per ton, picking up by 3.3% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 22% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $2,015 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Brazil ($2,112 per ton), while the price for the United States ($1,156 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (-0.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Chicken Meat Exports in Turkey
For the fourth year in a row, Turkey recorded growth in overseas shipments of chicken meat, which increased by 14% to 667K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.7% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, chicken meat exports surged to $1.1B in 2022. In general, exports recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 55% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
