Crispbread Price in Uganda (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average crispbread import price amounted to $2,669 per ton, rising by 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a perceptible contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 64%. The import price peaked at $3,957 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($6,415 per ton), while the price for Denmark ($2,242 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+35.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Crispbread Price in Uganda (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average crispbread export price amounted to $1,420 per ton, flattening at the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average export price increased by 60%. The export price peaked at $2,132 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Democratic Republic of the Congo ($14,308 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Sudan ($667 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Democratic Republic of the Congo (+22.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Crispbread Imports in Uganda
In 2022, approx. 4.7 tons of crispbread were imported into Uganda; waning by -45.5% compared with 2021 figures. In general, imports faced a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 50%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 8.7 tons, and then dropped significantly in the following year.
In value terms, crispbread imports contracted dramatically to $13K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 59% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $21K, and then fell sharply in the following year.

Crispbread Exports in Uganda
In 2022, approx. 1.4 tons of crispbread were exported from Uganda; waning by -50% compared with the previous year. In general, exports, however, posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 3,459%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 2.8 tons, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
In value terms, crispbread exports plummeted to $2K in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 3,981% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $4K, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.
