The average import price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses stood at $5,748 per ton in November 2023, with an increase of 17% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 an increase of 174% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $10,846 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to November 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($24,494 per ton), while the price for France ($2,701 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+52.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $21,714 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to November 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Sweden ($42,310 per ton), while the average price for exports to Latvia ($2,486 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+9.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
