Total exports indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2023: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, exports decreased by X% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2021 to 2023, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, non-wheat flour exports expanded remarkably to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of X%. The level of export peaked in 2023 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Mexico represented the main exporting country with an export of about X tons, which finished at X% of total exports. El Salvador (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Colombia (X%), Brazil (X%) and the Dominican Republic (X%). Honduras (X tons) and Costa Rica (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to non-wheat flour exports from Mexico stood at X%. At the same time, the Dominican Republic (X%), Costa Rica (X%), Colombia (X%) and Honduras (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Dominican Republic emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, El Salvador (X%) and Brazil (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Mexico (X p.p.), Colombia (X p.p.), the Dominican Republic (X p.p.) and Honduras (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while El Salvador and Brazil saw its share reduced by X% and X% from 2012 to 2023, respectively. Total imports indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2023: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, imports decreased by X% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. The import price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2023, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2022 when the import price increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, leveling off in the following year.
