The average import price for vegetables; potatoes (other than seed), fresh or chilleds stood at $518 per ton in 2022, picking up by 23% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Vietnam ($678 per ton) and Canada ($611 per ton), while the price for Germany ($455 per ton) and China ($515 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Myanmar (+11.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

For the fourth consecutive year, Thailand recorded growth in supplies from abroad of vegetables; potatoes (other than seed), fresh or chilleds, which increased by 22% to 75K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.7% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
