Spice Price in the Netherlands (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average spice import price amounted to $2,964 per ton, which is down by -11.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a mild curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 12%. The import price peaked at $3,521 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($7,822 per ton), while the price for Peru ($1,465 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+8.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average spice export price amounted to $3,607 per ton, shrinking by -10.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a noticeable reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 12% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $4,530 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($5,374 per ton), while the average price for exports to Curacao ($1,623 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sweden (+3.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Spice Imports in the Netherlands
In 2022, spice imports into the Netherlands amounted to 172K tons, approximately reflecting the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.3% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years.
